About the role
We are looking for a student who can work between the hours of 10AM-4PM. Variations of those hours are 10AM-1PM and 1PM-4PM. Or be able to work Saturday and Sunday's from 10AM-5PM. If you are NOT able to work those specific hours please do not apply.
The Student Worker Security Officer assists Campus Security in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors at Ave Maria University. This role primarily supports front desk operations and campus access control while upholding the University’s Catholic mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
Greet students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
Monitor front desk operations and control access to designated campus buildings
Verify student IDs, visitor passes, and credentials as required
Answer general campus security questions and provide directions
Report suspicious activity
Assist with incident documentation and daily activity logs
Support campus events with check-in and crowd monitoring as needed
Communicate effectively with Campus Security officers and supervisors
Enforce university policies in a respectful and consistent manner
Requirements
- Must be a currently enrolled student at Ave Maria University
- Good academic and disciplinary standing
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Availability for evenings, weekends, or event coverage preferred
